Nathan Schroeder
Lead Pastor
Nathan Schroeder graduated from North Central University with a Bachelor's degree in pastoral studies. He began serving as a youth pastor in Berlin, WI in 2000.
In January of 2005, Nathan joined Highland Church’s team in Plover, WI, and accepted the position as Lead Pastor in June of 2015.
His true passion is to see people find, pursue and fulfill their God-given purpose and design. He desires to help Highland Church grow in love for Jesus and share God’s love with the community, on a daily basis. Seeing churches work together and helping new churches start are long term goals.
It was a dream-come-true to help Pastor Chris Mancl launch City Point Church in Stevens Point, WI in 2017.
Nathan and his wife live happily in Stevens Point. Their oldest son is married and serving as a pastor in MN, while their younger son is studying to be a Worship Pastor at North Central University.
Nathan enjoys art, music, graphic design, vintage synthesizers, the outdoors and hanging out with his family.
Laura Michalski
Children’s Pastor
Laura Michalski oversees Highland’s children’s ministries. Laura began ministering at Highland Church in June 2006 after graduating from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida where she studied Christian leadership and communication.
Pastor Laura's greatest joy in ministry comes as she leads a team in building the foundational faith of children. Using her background in the arts and theatre, Laura regularly brings the truth of Christ to children in an engaging, interactive way. You may even catch her directing a stage full of young actors as they share Jesus in fun, creative ways.
As natives of Waupaca, Laura and her husband, Tim (Highland Church's Business Administrator), enjoy spending time with their two children, close to extended family and friends. In her few moments of spare time, Laura enjoys doing home projects and updates, baking, knitting, taking road trips, playing board games and time on the water.
Jonathan Nganji
Worship Leader
Jonathan Nganji was born and raised in Burundi, Africa, he moved to the States at the age of 15 with his family. He graduated from Indiana University majoring in Interior Design with a minor in French. There, he attended a college ministry Chi Alpha as a student, where he did internship in vocational campus ministry and serving on staff. He is currently serving with Chi Alpha at UW-Stevens Point in WI where he met his fiancée, Gianna.
Jonathan finds joy leading worship from a place of Holy Spirit empowerment and sound biblical truths all expressed in singing and also in moments of stillness and quiet. Similar to psalmists, he wants to see the lyrics we sing become melodies of truths describing, reminding us, and proclaiming the realities of God’s relationship with us and our transformation in Him. As we worship God through with songs, it is only an extension of true worship, worshipping God with our lives.
His favorite hobbies are soccer (as the rest of the world calls it football), if you are an Arsenal fan he’d love to chat. Also, he's felt a warm welcome to Wisconsin as a Philadelphia eagles fan. Moreover, he enjoys a good hangout with friends and family. Jonathan loves different kinds of international food & cuisine as well.
