Welcome to Highland Kids!

June 30th, 2009

Love God.  Love others.  Love church.  Change the world.

Highland Kids exists to encourage kids to do these four things.  Our awesome team of directors, teachers and helpers are here to make a lasting impression for God in kids’ lives.  With thorough background checks on our volunteers and a great check-in/out system, Highland Kids is a safe place for kids to begin building their faith in Christ.  Come check us out!

If you have any questions please contact Pastor Laura.  laura@highlandag.org

Books of the Bible

June 20th, 2009

It’s important for kids to read their Bibles.  Here’s a great song to help them navigate the Word of God.  Kids Rock kids who memorize and sing this song to a Kids Rock leader will earn 100pts for the Rock Shop. The song is from The Bigsby Show.

Rock Climbers January Theme

January 5th, 2012

In January, kids in our Rock Climbers class (preschool) will be learning that Jesus can do anything.  They’ll be learning all about some of the awesome miracles he did while he was here on earth.  Check out this link to the preview video and don’t forget to take the parent take homes each week to get as much out of these lessons as possible!

The votes are in!

November 22nd, 2011

Super Spiky!!!  If kids raised over $400 for the Pop Out! Challenge Pastor Laura promised to do her hair in some crazy way!  Kids Rock has voted and it was a close count, but super spiky hair is the winner with Princess Leia buns coming in at a close second.  November 27 come ready to see spiky hair like you’ve never seen it before!!!

But that’s not all!  The kids didn’t just raise over $400, they’ve brought in over $500!!!  So no need to stuff the ballot boxes with Princess Leia votes, because on Sunday, December 4 Pastor Laura will look like our favorite intergalactic princess!

If you haven’t turned in your Pop Out! Challenge money yet, bring it to Kids Rock in the next two weeks.  If we raise over $750, a third week of crazy hair is guaranteed and over $1000 will mean a fourth week of crazy hair from Pastor Laura!

What a great added bonus to raising money for missionaries in Africa to get clean water to the people they serve!

June 22nd, 2011

Every other Saturday throughout the summer, starting this Saturday (June 25) join Pastor Laura from 9:30am-11:30am in KASH Park Stevens Point for an awesome family time!  Don’t miss out on the family fun, popsicles, awesome lessons about Jonah and our attitudes and, of course, fun time in the park!

Alien Kids: Devotion

April 21st, 2011

I am so excited about this series!!!   Until mid-June Kids Rock will be learning what the Bible says about aliens.  No, not green invaders from outer space.  When the Bible talks about aliens it means anyone living in a place that isn’t their homeland.  When you ask Jesus into your heart and become a Christian, you get a new homeland, heaven.   Even though your new homeland is heaven, you still live on earth.  That makes you an alien!!!

Throughout this series, in Kids Rock and at home, kids will learn how to live for God as aliens in this world.  Families are encouraged to learn together using the Alien Kids Devotion.  Enjoy!

Family Devotion: The Body of Christ and Easter

March 25th, 2011

Here’s the new family devotion. In April, Kids Rock kids will be learning about the Body of Christ and the last 24 hours of Jesus life. If you don’t have a copy of the family devotion yet, you can download and print it here: Body of Christ, Easter Family Devotion

On April 17 Kids Rock will learn about Communion, what it is and what it helps us remember.  At the end of service, Kids Rock kids will join the adult service and, those who are ready, will be able to take Communion with their parents, most for the first time!  The family devotion for April 17 is about Communion so that you can talk with your kids about Communion and the opportunity they’ll have that Sunday.

Prezi may be my new best friend.

January 21st, 2011

So another children’s pastor just introduced me to Prezi.  It’s an online program that let’s me create visuals to go along with a presentation, like my Kids Rock sermons.  Think powerpoint, but way cooler.  It’s like google earth where you can click and drag and zoom.  If I can learn to create with it faster, it will probably be my new favorite tool.  Here’s the presentation for Sunday’s message.  Devotion: Stand up for what’s right.  The kids might not even notice that something’s different, but I’m pretty pumped about it!  In the bottom right hand corner you can click “more” and autoplay, that will take you through the presentation.  Or, just click around and explore.  Super exciting!… for me anyway.

Sunday, January 9

December 17th, 2010

That’s the date you all want to put on your calendars because we have officially rescheduled the Highland Kids’ Christmas program and January 9 at 10am it is!  There will be a review rehearsal after church on Sunday, January 2 until 1:30 and a dress rehearsal Saturday, January 8 from 9:30am-11:30am.  It’s going to be extraordinary!  Don’t miss it!

Greatest Story Ever Told… postponed

December 15th, 2010

Due to the incredibly beautiful, but dangerous weather we had Dec 11-12, the Highland Kids Christmas play has been postponed.  By the end of the week we will have the new date, but it looks like you’ll still have a chance to see this spectacular event!  Check back at the end of the week for the new date.

Greatest Story Ever Told Rehearsal Schedule

November 3rd, 2010

The kids are doing an awesome job in play practices.  I’m looking forward to the show.  To all you parents out there, I know you’ve probably all lost the rehearsal schedule for the Christmas play at this poitn.  No worries.  Here is the Kids’ Christmas Play Rehearsal Schedule.  It will be here for you anytime you need it day or night.  If you have any questions email or call me!  Thanks!  I also have a recording of the script being read for the kids to practice with.  This can hopefully help them memorize their lines faster.  If you still need a CD, or a replacement CD, let me know and I’ll have it here for you at church.
